I have been riding with the Lazer Oasiz All Mountain helmet for several months now and it is a solid choice if you are looking for an all mountain style helmet that offers a bit more protection than a standard XC type lid. Like the Giro Xar or Hex or the Fox Flux, the Oasiz helmet extends down more in the back of the head. The high viz yellow (called Flash Yellow by Lazer) is very eye catching and is quite the trend, these days. If you aren’t into the super bright color, the Oasiz is also available in a whopping 8 other color schemes (including 3 Brian Lopes editions). The standout feature is really the built-in GoPro mount. No more messing with straps or velcro, just snap your GoPro in and out. Super Easy!
The Oasiz is constructed by using an in-mold technique with 3 main pieces. The shell has plenty of vents (21 to be exact) and is CE – CPSC – AS certified. The GoPro mount is also removable (via screws) if you want to use just a standard cap. The weight is 285 grams for a size medium. Speaking of sizes, the Oasiz comes in only two sizes: medium (52 – 58cm) and large (59-61cm).
The Lazer Oasiz helmet features:
- All Mtn designed top helmet
- Magic buckle (magnets for retention)
- Rollsys® Retention System (easy to use roller that tightens and loosens the fit)
- Adjustable head basket
- Lightweight (260g)
- CoolMax padding
In this video, Chris from Lazer Sports shows us the highlights of the Lazer Oasiz (and Nirvana) helmets:
Besides the built-in GoPro mount, other cool features are the Rollsys rentention system and the “Magic” buckle. The Lazer Rollsys system is a wheel located on the top of the helmet that tightens or loosens a cable that snugs up the inner contact points (of the head basket) around your head. It is simple and easy to use and produces no pressure points and the helmet stays secure.
The Magic Buckle uses magnets instead of the standard clip-in buckle, to secure the straps. When we first saw this design a couple of years ago, we were somewhat skeptical about the security. But in two years of using various Lazer helmets with this feature, we have never had the buckle come loose. Besides the magnets, there is also a side facing latch type interface that helps keep the connection secure (check the photos in the gallery for a close-up view).
If you are not hot on the Flash Yellow, the Oasiz is available in Black Mat, Pink Silver, White, White Red, White Silver and 3 Brian Lopes Replica colors Black Bronze, Dark Grey Silver and Dark Titanium Sand.

Overall, the Lazer Oasiz helmet is a great choice for an All Mountain type helmet that has a nice fit and lots of style. If you are a GoPro user, the built-in helmet mount makes this a definite must. The only downside we found was that running the helmet with the added weight of the camera on top, the straps can start to loosen up a bit over time. Other than that nit-pick, we encountered no problems or issues.
The MSRP of the Lazer Oasiz helmet is $145 but the “street” price is lower. The helmet is available at your local and online Lazer helmet dealers now.
