runtastic’s MountainBike PRO iPhone App Free for 3 days!

I just received a notice about a new iPhone app for mountain bikers called MountainBike PRO from a company named runtastic. MountainBike PRO is the full edition of their app that includes:

“a clean interface, this easy-to-use app tracks your ascent and altitude and provides other helpful metrics like distance, time, pace and calories burned. New features in version 1.3 include added support for runtastic heart rate receivers and BLTE heart rate straps and a male voice coach.”

We here at Mtbr HQ have recently downloaded the app and the interface is very clean and we like the fact that it is customizable. We have not yet trail tested it, but we will soon.

This app normally costs $5.99 in the iTunes store, but right now you can download the full PRO version for FREE (now through Saturday May 19, 2012). It can be downloaded here:

For you hardcore Strava or MotionX GPS users, runtastic’s MountainBike PRO offers these unique features:

During a ride:

-Offline maps (users can download maps before going out for a ride. They don´t need to have a data connection, and it saves battery life)
-Accurate altitude service (Normally, altitude is calculated via GPS, which is not perfectly accurate. runtastic uses a special altitude service to get accurate data)
-Provides weather and wind information
-iPod integration with Powersong
-Supports cadence and speed sensors
-Configurable dashboard with six elements which you can change. (You can choose between more than 15 parameters.)
-Includes various map types, such as Open Street map and Open cycle maps. (This is important for bikers, because Google maps doesn’t mark all trails)
-Voice Feedback
-Heart rate support

After a ride:

-Pie charts for cadence
-Overall history of when/where users rode
-Detailed history is automatically saved with weather data
-Users can enter emoticons to log how they felt on a ride
-Enter an activity manually

-Live tracking
-Voice Feedback
-Countdown before starting
-Language support (English, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish)
