The 6th Annual SF Bike Expo was held at the Cow Palace this past weekend and Mtbr was there strolling the aisles, talking to old friends and making some new ones. And, of course, we took plenty of pictures of the vendors and show goers. The show was pared back from two days to one day and the manufacturer and velo swap halls were combined into one central location now. Admission was free, as was the valet bike parking.

Bargain hunters came early and midday foot traffic was pretty strong. Bob Mack, Publisher of Cycle California Magazine said, "The SF Bike Expo is the longest running Bay Area bike expo in 25 years." We saw several bicycle fans walking out of the show with their new purchases, tires and wheels seemed especially popular. Philipp Segura, SF Bike Expo Organizer and Main Man, told us that both ATM machines ran out of money by 2:30. Victor Sandrin of the Gravity Cartel said that sales of iXS and Spank products were so strong in the first couple of hours that any sales done in the afternoon were "gravy".

Here are a few highlights from the SF Bike Expo. Be sure to click through the photo gallery at the bottom to see ALL of our photos.

The all new uGrip Plus 501 heavy duty lock from ABUS. www.abus.com
The ABUS uGrip Plus 501 features a 13 mm square shackle that is double bolted in the lock body. It has an innovative, soft elastomer synthetic coating on the shakle and the lock body with "soft touch" properties to prevent damage to the bicyle's paintwork. It has the ABUS "power cell technology" that offers highest protection against hitting and pulling attacks. Made of special hardened steel, the uGrip Plus 501 features a cylinder that has high protection against manipulations (like picking). It comes with two keys, one of which is LED-lighted. It has an automatic keyhole cover against dirt and corrosion.

Victor from the Gravity Cartel showing us the all new Trail RS (as in Richie Schley) enduro helmet from IXS. www.ixs-sportsdivision.com
The Trail RS helmet features a "large visor which gives the TrailRS a unique and tough look. Thanks to its form and its tight padding, the helmet sits comfortably low and wraps your head with its low back shell. A great working dial adjuster makes adjustments easy."
Mtbr.com will be doing an in-depth review of this new helmet soon.
