At the recent Downieville Classic Race and Festival, Mtbr was on hand to snap a few spy photos of two new 2013 models from Marin Bicycles. Shown here are the Mount Vision XM8 and the Cortina cyclocross bike with disc brakes. We will have more info on the complete line-up of new Marin bikes at the forthcoming Interbike trade show. If you have any specific questions about either of these bikes, feel free to leave a comment/question below and we'll do our best to find out the info.

2013 Mount Vision XM8 - MSRP $3799.99

Second from the top in Marin's line up of All Mountain suspension bikes with 140mm of travel front and rear. New frame updates for 2013 include a new 142mm E-Thru™ through axle swingarm that boosts stiffness by 15% and Enduro™ bearings for all pivots carrying a 10 year warranty. Component highlights include a Shimano XT drivetrain with X-Fusion dropper seatpost, Easton EA70 wheels and controls (stem/handlebar/seatpost). The top three models in the four bike series will come with dropper seatposts, with the flagship XM Pro model using the Rock Shox Reverb and the XM8 (shown) and XM7 models using the X-Fusion HILO model.

Close up of the new 142mm E-Thru rear end and Shimano Direct Mount hanger system (bikes will be available with both systems). The Quad 3 links will use Enduro™ brand bearings for 2013 and carry a 10 year warranty.

2013 Cortina Cyclocross bike - MSRP $2149

The 2013 Cortina is dubbed as Marin's blue collar race bike. The bike is built upon a double & triple butted aluminum frame and carbon fork and makes the jump to disc brakes. Production models will have a chainstay caliper mount vs the sample bike shown with a seat stay brake mount. Component breakdown includes a new wheelset with sealed cartridge bearing hubs laced to WTB i19 TCS tubeless ready rims fitted with Clement 33c Crusade tires. Riders wishing to jump to tubeless can quickly add some juice and valve stems and are good to go. Other component highlights include Ritchey controls, Prologo saddle and SRAM parts including Avid BB7 disc brakes. The drivetrain has a bit of a twist in using Rival groupset mated to a mountain XO Type2 Rear derailleur. The Type2 clutch system benefits cross riders who are often forced to run single chainrings due to the frequency of chain derailments on bumpy courses. With the use of the Type2 system the derailleur keeps greater tension on the chain, significantly reducing chain slap and unwanted dropped chains.

The Cortina will roll on new 33c Clement Crusade tires fitted to 700c versions of WTB's i19 tubeless ready rims pre-fitted with tubeless rimstrips & laced to lightweight, sealed bearing hubs with alloy freehub body.
