If your saddle doesn't fit you well, you're not going to ride your bike. Here's SQlab's Mark Burgener to explain why many OEM saddles don't work well and how you can address the issue.

Truth is the saddle that comes on your bike may not be the right one for you. When building up bikes for sale, bike manufacturers aim to both cut costs and choose OEM saddles that sit in the middle of the size range, hoping that it'll fit most people. Of course, the reality is that no two human bodies are the same, and that's why it's important to choose a saddle that's sized right for you.

Enter SQlab, which has both an accurate sitbone measuring tool and a unique take on saddle design. The new Ergolux saddle is based on their popular Ergowave model, where the concave profile creates a perfect perch for your sitbones. The Ergolux has a dual step design that's aimed to further enhance support and create a sweet spot on the backside of the saddle. This also provides free space on the front to relieve pressure on soft tissue, which prevents pain and numbness, the two of the most common reasons people don't ride their bikes more.

The Ergolux is designed for a more upright riding position, making it a perfect choice for mountain biking or long days on the road bike. It also features what SQlab calls its Active System, where the amount of side-to-side flex can be custom tined for the rider via multiple stiffness elastomers that are included with purchase. No wonder it's the choice of so many custom frame builders.

To address the other critical on-bike contact point, SQlab has launched its 30X handlebars that come with 12° or 16° backsweep. This shorter reach provides a natural transition from the lower arm to the hand when in a more upright riding position, thus protecting the wrist from the strain that can occur when riding downhill. The 30X bars also have 4° of upsweep to bring the elbows into a perfect position for a dynamic riding style.
