SR-Suntour AXON-Equipped Riders Win XC and Marathon World Championships, World Cup Overall and 4X Podiums
Langvad, Bresset and Rinderknecht Taking SR-Suntour Werx Suspension Products to the Top
Vancouver, WA (CFEpr+) September 5, 2011 - - SR-Suntour's WERX Team Riders have been piloting new AXON lightweight, high-performance carbon/magnesium suspension forks to the top of podiums at World Championship and World Cup mountain bike events this season, proving and improving products that are now available to the mountain biking public at large.
The new Werx AXON RC Carbon fork features a one-piece carbon lower mated to magnesium dropouts that house SR-Suntour's patented 15mm titanium Q-LOC axle system. The total package combined with the new RC hydraulic damping cartridge provides lighter, stiffer and more responsive bump sensitivity than ever before - and SR-Suntour racers are proving it at the top of multiple disciplines.
World U23 and World Cup Victor
Team BH-SR Suntour's French phenom Julie Bresset stunned the rest of the field at last weekend's World Championships in Champery, Switzerland, and on the World Cup circuit, piloting her SR-Suntour Werx AXON-clad BH hardtail.
Bresset rode to a solo victory in the World Championships and took an early season lead all the way to the finals three weeks ago in Val di Sol, Italy.
Julie's AXON fork features a prototype full-carbon upper steerer/crown and full-carbon lowers mated with a new lightweight RL-RC cartridge that weighs only 1350 grams. Her race mechanic has customized her lockout by shaving away every gram possible.
At only 22 years old, Bresset was the favorite to take the U23 World Championship title. With her World Cup domination, she looks like a force to be reckoned with for some time to come.
Marathon Champion Langvad
Denmark's Annika Langvad rode to a convincing victory at the Marathon World Championships in late June in Montebelluna, Italy, proving that her Werx AXON fork can provide world-class performance for the long haul too.
She rides an AXON fork that features a magnesium upper mated to a carbon lower, providing a great strength-to-weight ratio.
Racing for Team Easton Rockets, Annika was the first rider to win a World Championship on an SR-Suntour fork. At 27 years of age, we've got a feeling there might be a few more of them coming!
WC Speed Demon Rinderknecht
Swiss 4X star Roger Rinderknecht rode his Werx AXON fork to a Silver medal last weekend at the World Championships on perhaps the gnarliest 4X course ever, and in front of a home-country crowd. Roger also rode to victory at the Fort William World Cup in Scotland and finished 5th overall in the WC Series.
Roger rides a hollow-aluminum crowned Werx AXON fork with magnesium lowers, with RC hydraulic cartridges providing light and solid performance.
His podium results show that not only can SR-Suntour provide world class performance in a cross-country situation, the AXON can also hit hard and fast in the most demanding discipline a single-crown fork can see - World Cup 4X.
