Johansson finishes his lines like a well-seasoned dancer.

Riding without expectations last year, Emil Johansson surprised everyone including himself with his third place finish in Crankworx Rotorua. The 17-year-old followed that effort up in 2017 with another third place finish, displaying consistency and calm under pressure.

Too see what we’re talking about, watch Emil Johansson in this video and you’ll see an economy of effort in his fun but edited riding style that is quiet, while at the same time projects a modicum of genius.

This stylish Swede may be young, but he already rides with a level of competition maturity that takes most riders years to achieve — it they find it at all.

But, somehow, that would be decidedly un-Swedish, and feels like it would actually betray the art he made at Crankworx Rotorua. Because, tala är silver, tiga är guld aka talk is silver, silence is gold.
