Team Epic Racing Around the World

MonaVie, the proud sponsor of the racing team, announces its official 2008 Mountain Bike Team.
With a focus on the growing spectrum of cross-country racing world wide, the mountain bike team will continue to target races that provide a total immersion experience – epic conditions, exotic travel, intense competition, and a team work environment. Unique XC events combined with the adventurous nature of endurance events in new locations are the events that stories are made of, and thus the foundation of this team’s endeavors. On schedule for 2008 are the British Columbia seven-day BC Bike Race, Trans Baja, La Ruta de los Conquistadors, the 24hrs of Moab, and select national calendar endurance and cross country races.

After a successful inaugural 2007 season, new to the team for 2008 are 2x US Olympian and current 24 Hour Solo World Champion Tinker Juarez. 2004 World & 2007 National XTERRA Champion Jamie Whitmore, Four Cross and Downhill contender Leana Gerrard, U23 Cyclocross and XC mountain bike World’s candidate Mitchell Peterson, and Master’s 35+ women’s cyclocross champion Sue Butler.

Returning to the team is Bart Gilliespie, Jason Sager, Blake Harlan, Bryan Alders, Matt Ohran, and Thomas Spannring.

Since the team’s inception in July, 2007, the squad has earned multiple top ten results at the US cross country and cyclocross national championships, the La Ruta de los Conquistadors, in addition to the overall win at the 24 Hours of Moab.
The team will hold its media presentation and debut at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, CA, welcoming Tinker Juarez back from the NMBS stop #2 marathon in Fountain Hills, AZ, and Singapore’s Bike Asia marathon race, Jason Sager’s return from UCI victories in Puerto Rico, and the rest of the squad’s early season competition at NMBS stops #1 and #2.
