We’ve been riding a Trek Fuel EX 26er bike for months and have grown to respect its maturity and refinement. This modern day Trek Fuel is so dialed in with its DRCV Suspension, Full Floater Platform, ABP Braking, carbon materials and internal cable routing. “If only it was available in one of those newfangled wheel sizes to give it more bump-rolling ability and more traction,” we thought.
Well it seems Trek read our minds as they invited us out to Sedona to try out their new Trek Fuel EX 29 for a few days in some of the most challenging terrain available. The Trek Fuel 29 has big wheels and all the refinements of the 26er version. So although new, it’s pretty dialed-in already. And what Trek delivers to the 29er arena is a 120 mm travel platform that has a DRCV, dual chamber rear shock and a full floater suspension that delivers plushness that defies its 120 mm spec sheet number reveals.
