Alban Lakata begins his season in Cyprus

Marathon World Champion Alban Lakata begins his season with a ninth place finish in Cyprus.

“I intentionally didn’t go hard. It’s the first chance in competition I have to measure my progress, it gives me a chance to see where I stand against the competition,” The Austrian sad following the end of the Sunshine Cup Race in Cyprus.

It was a technically demanding course on the Mediterranean Island where Alban Lakata looked good, even though it was obvious that she wasn’t going all out. Starting slowly he then made up place by place in order to finish ninth.

Alban Lakata talking about the race later said. “Today was a great way to measure my condition, I use the race as feedback for my training. I was testing everything, myself and the material and I have to say that I’m massively impressed. Additionally World ranking points are available at the event, so I’m very pleased with the result.”
