Hey Everyone, Bryson here.
The race season has been awesome so far.
After podium finishes at Sea Otter I went on to win the Junior DH in Plattekill, New York a few weeks back at my first Pro GRT race. My main goal this year is to race for the US at Worlds as a junior in Mont St Anne, Quebec in September. An important part of my qualifying is to win races at the Pro GRT series. In 2 weeks I will race US Nationals in Sol Vista Colorado to secure the final selection for the US Team. I’m feeling super pumped with my season so far.
June 26 was the 3rd stop of the Pro GRT race series at the Northstar bike park in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
My dad and I got up there late on thursday night after 8 hours of driving and it was definitely worth it. It’s an awesome bike park with lot’s of Whistler Park A-line type jump trails and fast wide open turns. Coming off my win at the second GRT at Plattekill, I was ready.
Practice was early on friday morning with qualifying later that same day. It went really well, I qualified second with time to spare. Saturday was nice, I got to practice all day and just enjoy riding my bike. Loving my Commencal, Marzocchi, and Saint set up.
Got some new lines down and I was ready and pumped to race! Coming into Race Day, I felt prepared and confident in my riding and fitness. My bike was working perfectly and the Marzocchi suspension was flawless.
Racing ended up being pushed back an hour so we had more time to practise, definitely stoked for that. I headed up for my race-run around 2 o’clock and was ready. I dropped into the course feeling strong, I nailed all my lines perfectly, sprinted towards the ski-jump style step down at the finish and crossed the line in second behind Mitch Ropelato. All in all it was an awesome weekend and I had so much fun.
Also just had a great write up in Mountain Bike Action. Check it out, it’s called Family Tradition.
Thanks again to all my sponsors, Marzocchi, Commencal, Shimano, FSA, Gravity, Mavic,Maxxis, Oakley, Evoc, MRP and SDG. I appreciate everything.
Catch ya at the next race!
