In a surprise move, YT USA announced today that they are shutting down their US distributor in Reno, Nevada, to open a new US office in San Clemente, CA. This ends their operations relationship with Cam and Howie Zink who got the ball rolling in the US for direct to consumer brand, YT Industries.

Things seemed to be going well with the Zink brothers setting up shop in Reno, selling and servicing bike from the Reno office. We paid them a visit and were impressed with the facility they built up so quickly. Folks had great things to say about them too, especially when they got to visit the facility to get hands-on service or bike pickup.

But there were inventory issues as it seemed like they were often short on some bikes with long-term ordering and forecasting issues. When the YT Jeffsy first came out, they clearly didn’t have enough to satisfy demand and there was a long wait to get the inventory reinforcements in.

This new business model is clearly a sign of expansion where YT will have their own US office with their own people. They should have the full arsenal of tools and authority to move and service product in the San Clemente, CA operation.

Since YT Industries ships directly to consumer, their first contact with the client is with this all-important box opening.

Official release: YT USA – Change of Business Structure

We are pleased to announce a structural change in the distribution strategy of YT in the USA. Instead of going through a service and distribution partner, our subsidiary YT Industries USA Inc. will be running the US business as of the 1st Dec, 2017. This means we can now fully implement our European direct sales strategy in the USA, offering several advantages for US customers, such as more attractive pricing, improved service and increased availability of bikes. The new Head Office of YT Industries USA Inc. is based in San Clemente, California.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Cam Zink for his support in running a service and distribution center in Reno for us over the last 3 years. Cam will remain with YT Industries as an athlete and continue to contribute to the business as part of the YT Family. We are looking forward to delivering even more #GoodTimes to the USA.

Man good for YT but bad for Reno. We will miss YT USA in Reno and all our friends. Thanks Cam,Howie,Cole,Brad,Ray and Mark for everything. I am really going to miss this brand being so close. Good business strategy though for YT and glad Cam is staying on as an athlete. These bikes are so fantastic and the service is killer at YT.
