NiteRider Technical Lighting Systems Announces the 2012 Athlete Roster
March 7, 2012 (San Diego, CA) – NiteRider Technical Lighting Systems announced the official list of cyclists for the 2012 season. Leading the roster are four current 24 Hour National Champions and four Mountain Bike Hall of Famers.
Josh Tostado and Pua Mata are the reigning 2011 24 Hour Solo National Champions. New to the team in 2011, Danielle Musto from Grand Rapids, Michigan is the current National Solo Singlespeed Champion. Cameron Chambers from Colorado Springs races in the duo class in 24 hour races and just added a win at the 24 Hours of Old Pueblo to compliment his 2011 national duo victory.
Additional riders include adventure racer and multi-time National 24 Hour Champion Jari Kirkland, the 2012 women’s solo singlespeed winner at the 24 Hours of Old Pueblo, Mel Leibling, and Tough Girls Cycling out of Boulder, Colorado.
The line up of legends who have shaped the sport of mountain biking begins with the revered Tinker Juarez who continues to race extensively throughout the year and has been sponsored by NiteRider for eleven years. New to the list is the husband and wife duo of Charlie Cunningham and Jacquie Phelan. Residing in Marin County, Phelan has a substantial, broad reaching race and advocacy resume and Cunningham’s innovations shaped the evolution of the mountain bike. Completing the Hall of Fame lineup is wild man, Brett Tippie. Hailing from British Columbia, Tippie is one of the godfathers of the freeride mountain bike movement and part of the famous “Fro Riders.”
“We are proud to work with such great athletes. Not only are they gifted riders, but great ambassadors for the sport and our company,” noted Mike Ely, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. NiteRider has been sponsoring and supporting top riders who race after dark since the company’s early days. In addition to athlete sponsorship, the company supports an extensive schedule of 24-hour races, charging several hundred customers lights each race. For more information log on to www.niterider.com.
