New for 2010: The BCBR Challenge!!!

The BCBR Challenge!!!Got the itch do do BC Bike Race, but not sure if you’re up for the full complement of singletrack each day? Well have we got the solution for you…introducing the BC Bike Race Challenge!

The Challenge is the newest offering in the BCBR quiver. It is the ‘lite’ version of the original BC Bike Race event, which we now refer to as the BCBR Epic.

BCBR Challenge riders will experience, on average, 30km each day of sweet BC singletrack. The Challenge is the same seven days as the Epic, visits the same towns, stays at the same Base Camps, enjoys all the same amenities, but rides approximately half the distance each day.

The registration cap for BCBR 2010 is still limited to 500 riders, even with the newly added BCBR Challenge option. Sign up today before space runs out!

For more info and to register, click here.

New Course Videos Added

New Course Videos AddedCourse videos of Day 4/5, 6 and 7 are now posted!

Bike Bells Ring…

Bike Bells Ring...Though our main event happens in late June to early July each year, we might have outdone ourselves with our latest endeavor: the BC Bike Race Christmas Party!

A huge number of our team gathered together to tour Vancouver and North Vancouver on tandem cruiser bikes. Nice easy cruising, punctuated with a few skidding contests, made for a sweet afternoon of BCBR fun on bikes.

For more insights and a sleighful of pics, check out our blog.

BCBR Supports Inaugural Charity Event for Kids

BCBR Supports Inaugural Charity Event for KidsAt BCBR, we strongly believe in supporting local businesses and organizations as well as contributing to a selection of charities and charitable events throughout the year.

This year, we got behind a new charitable event – the Get on Your Bike! Spin Relay – that was organized by one of our own team members. In just its first year, this worthwhile event raised over $30,000 to send kids fighting cancer to a special camp next summer.

2009 BC CX Championships in Our Hometown!

2009 BC CX Championships in Our Hometown!BC Cyclcoross Championships were held on Sunday, Nov 29th at Mahon Park in North Vancouver, BC.  It was an amazing way to finish the season and bring a new venue to the future of BC’s curious winter sport – Cyclocross.

More than 200 competitors came out to Mahon Park in North Vancouver to challenge the never-before-seen course. Organizer and race promoter Kevin Calhoun on short notice gathered his people and contacts and assembled an amazing event – this is what can happen when a community pulls together. The ever-popular BC Bike Race arch made a prominent start/finish gate for competitors.

The weekend titles were taken home by elite woman Alison Sydor, Rocky MountainBicylcles/Maxxis Team and Evan Guthrie, Rocky Mountain Factory Team young gun. Full results and in-depth story here.
