Blackburn Introduces “Bikepacker” Category at Whiskey Off-Road

Pack 20 pounds of consumables to give away at the Blackburn aid station for a chance to win $1,000 in Blackburn loot.

If you’ve even thought you’d make a great pack mule in the afterlife and you’re already registered for this weekend’s Whiskey Off-Road 25 Proof event, then Blackburn has a special category just for you.

The rules are simple: Pack 20 pounds of consumables in your pack to give away at the Blackburn aid station on the race course.  It doesn’t matter if it’s bacon, pizza, cookies or even whiskey, so long as you can give it away quickly and it can be consumed.

If you decide to enter the Bikepacker category, announce your entry on the Bikepacker Facebook page. Then on Friday, April 26, weigh in at the Blackburn Design booth on in the Health and Wellness expo, which runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Race or ride the 25 Proof event on Saturday, and when you reach the Blackburn Feed Zone, you will have 30 minutes to give away all your goodies. After 30 minutes (or sooner if your wares are in demand), pack out your leftover gear and make haste to the finish line.

Time bonuses will be given to the heaviest load and the most creative handout, so the first Bikepacker across the line might not actually win. The winner will be announced during the awards ceremony on Saturday.

Now that you know the rules, tell us what you would pack – or want handed up to you.
