The average American household uses 1,000 kilowatt-hours of energy. This power is generated from a variety of sources, including coal, natural gas, nuclear power plants, and renewable sources.
In a pinch, could you substitute (or even supplement) these power sources with a bicycle powered generator?

Awesome
900kWh per month? Either our scientist uses electricity for all heating needs or he needs to use it more efficiently and cut on waste (and likely all of it). Bicycle will never offset his global warming contribution.
This could be the shortest article ever – one could answer that question with 2 letters, but typical NPR, they are unable to get to the point.
Ted, 900kWh/month is completely reasonable.
My house uses over 1000 every month. 1500 if it’s cold.
