EVOC has long been one of Mtbr’s favorite MTB pack makers. From well-conceived designs to durable materials to an array of fun colors, the German brand does gear carriers really well. In the pipeline with release dates set for early fall are three new products: Hip Pack Pro 3L, Hip Pouch 1L, and the FR Lite Race 10L pack. Here’s a quick sneak peek of each from the recently wrapped Sea Otter Classic.
FR Lite Race 10L
This minimalist 10-liter pack is similar to EVOC‘s Stage 12L pack, but adds a back protector and airmesh waistband and shoulder straps for enhanced comfort and ventilation. It has ample storage space, including appropriation for a full-face or half shell helmet, and will be available with or without a 3-liter hydration reservoir.
It is also 5cm shorter in the rear for better fit, has a narrower back, and a quick access tool compartment to help speed up trailside fixes.
Hip Pack Pro 3L
In an evolution of the Hip Pack Race 3L comes the Hip Pack Pro 3L, which has two water bottle holders instead of one. It will also place nice with a 1-liter hydration bladder (sold separately), and features an airmesh waistband that both enhances comfort and breathability.
This mesh material comes from the medical industry and is the most expensive that EVOC uses. For added security there’s also a buckle, and the pack has cinch straps on either side of the waist allowing the user to loosen or tighten the pack, depending on whether they are climbing or descending.
There are also two small food compartments, and an external organization pocket with a water-resistant zipper.
Hip Pouch 1L
For riders who prefer to store their water bottle on their frame comes the Hip Pouch 1L, which has just enough space to stow a smart phone, lightweight rain coat, tool, and some food.
It’s also well vented and padded, so you don’t clam up on long climbs.
We’ll have official pricing and release dates later this summer. In the meantime, keep an eye on www.evocsports.com.
