Geax today launched a brand new tire specially designed for the Enduro crowd. Named the Goma, this innovative new tire features a number of tread technologies to enhance traction in all conditions.

The Goma gets its bite from a multi-directional tread pattern with full block siping, leading edge ramps for lower rolling resistance and sharp braking edges for consistent control. The tread blocks are spaced optimally for a wide range of conditions and uses from California hard pack to the soft, muddy soil of the Pacific Northwest. An innovative stepped edge on the side knobs gives riders an extra bite of traction in hard corners when the tread blocks naturally being to fold.

Stepped side block treads and tire siping help the Goma deliver predictable, consistent traction in the corners with low rolling resistance.

According to Geax brand manager Ken Avery, this stepped edge delivers more consistent cornering grip with plenty of feedback to the rider before the tire fully loses traction. The Goma is being used for everything from Enduro racing to moderate downhilling and even slopestyle with riders like Cam Zink, and can be run as either a front or a rear tire.

Feedback from Geax team riders so far has been very positive.

“This is the best all-around tire I’ve ridden. Predictable with great traction and still fast rolling” – Aaron Bradford

“The 2.25 might be my favorite non-dh front tire I’ve ever had.” – Cam Zink

“Turns every trail into hero dirt.” – Macky Franklin

Avery relayed a story to us of Team Jamis manager and rider Jason Sager, who after 15 years of being denied on a trail near his home in Utah, cleared the brutally steep and loose climb for the first time ever after putting on a set of Gomas. Sager was so pumped, he called Avery from the top of the climb and shared the good news. Apparently the Goma is good for more than just going downhill.

Available in all three wheel sizes as well as 2.25 and 2.4-inch widths, the Goma can be outfitted on virtually any bike.

Available in all three tire sizes (26, 27.5 and 29-inch), the Goma features either 2.25-inch or 2.4-inch tire width. Weight for the Goma 2.2 in 27.5-inch size is a scant 760 grams. The Goma is also available in the GEAX TNT tubeless version as well as traditional non-tubeless folding bead.
