Giant is expanding its lineup of performance helmets with two new models featuring the MIPS brain protection system. The Rail SX MIPS trail helmet and Rev Comp MIPS road helmet both represent an evolution of popular models developed with input from Giant pro racers.

For off-road riders and racers seeking comfort and confidence on trail and enduro terrain, the new Rail SX MIPS builds on the success of the award-winning Rail helmet. The new model features an updated trail-specific design that was created to meet the demands of the pro enduro racers on the Giant Factory Off-Road Team. It has a refined shape with extended side, front and rear coverage to give riders more protection and confidence on aggressive trails.

The new Rail SX MIPS features an updated trail-specific design including a refined overall shape that has extended side, front and rear coverage for added security on rugged terrain.

The Rail SX MIPS also features an integrated MIPS system. The shell and liner are separated by a low-friction layer that allows the helmet to slide relative to the head when rotational impacts occur. It has a more seamless design that allows the MIPS system to provide additional impact protection without compromising other benefits including ventilation, comfort and fit.

MIPS is a patented brain protection system designed to reduce the rotational motion from angled impacts that can cause strain to the brain. Developed by some of the world’s leading researchers in biomechanics and neuroscience at the Royal Institute of Technology and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, MIPS mimics the brain’s own protection system inside the skull by adding a low-friction layer between the head and the helmet.

The new design of the Rail SX MIPS delivers even more head-cooling ventilation with an updated Airflow Ventilation system that has 20 vents designed to pull in cool air and guide it through deep internal channels. The result is improved temperature regulation, even at slower speeds. And the new Cinch One Profit system, designed to cradle the occipital bone on the back of the head with large paddles, gives it a more secure and comfortable fit.

The new Rail SX MIPS was made to give Giant Factory Off-Road enduro pros including Mckay Vezina (left) and Josh Carlson the confidence to tackle aggressive terrain.

Beyond its protection, ventilation and comfort, the Rail SX MIPS has more features made specifically for trail riders. It has an adjustable moto-style visor that functions seamlessly with goggles or glasses, an integrated goggle strap, and dual-position mounting surfaces for a camera or Giant light system.

For road riders, the all-new Rev Comp MIPS is inspired by the pro-level Rev helmet, a favorite among WorldTour pros including Giro d’Italia champion Tom Dumoulin. Designed for everyday road riding performance, this all-rounder introduces new features to optimize its comfort, protection and versatility.

Made for aspiring all-rounder road riders, the new Rev Comp MIPS helmet delivers head-cooling ventilation, integrated MIPS technology, and new features including a magnetic light mount.

Similar to the Rail SX MIPS, the Rev Comp MIPS has the MIPS Brain Protection System integrated into its design, giving road riders an added level of security without compromising comfort or fit.

This all-rounder road helmet also features an updated Airflow Ventilation system, with 16 vents including three large center vents that pull air in through the helmet and channels it over the rider’s head. And for a more comfortable fit, it includes the new Cinch Pro Fit System and Lite form Strap webbing made with thin, lightweight material that doesn’t absorb water and sweat.

Other new features on the Rev Comp MIPS include an integrated magnet mount, which is compatible with a Giant Numen+ Link taillight, making it quick and easy to increase your visibility while riding in low-light conditions.
