Lazer attends Urban Press Camp event in Washington DC
Swedish ambassador Jonas Hafström stopped by the show to try on a new urban helmet from Lazer.
Urban Press Camp took place last month in Washington DC in the three days just before the before the US National Bike Summit. Bicycle and accessory manufactures took part in the event, held at the Swedish embassy, and shared their latest offerings designed specifically for urban and commuter cyclists.
We brought samples of our One City, CityZen, Krux and Urbanize helmets as well as a few new helmets coming out in the near future. It was a great event and the journalists in attendance had lots of positive feedback on our urban/commuter line. You can find coverage of the event from Bike Rumor, Bicycling Magazine and Cycling Mobility.

Lazer Race Results
Lazer Professional Helmeteers have had some great performances in March and April!
Triathlete Julie Dibens has started the racing season off with incredible success by winning the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon on March 21 and then followed up with a win at the New Orleans Ironman 70.3 Triathlon on April 22. Julie is a big fan of the Lazer Tardiz helmet and she customizes her helmet graphics for each of her events. Julie says about her Tardiz helmet:
“I started using Lazer helmets last year and instantly liked them. The fit system works brilliantly as it allows you to easily tighten or loosen the helmet one handed, which is great for adjusting running through transition, or once on the bike. The Lazer Tardiz helmet is also the coolest TT helmet I have used, which is super important for some of my key races this year like Kona, Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi. Add all this to the fact that after testing it recently in the wind tunnel, i have the confidence that the Lazer Tardiz helmet is hands down the best helmet for me to use.”
Andrea Guardini of the Farnese Vini-Neri-Sottoli continues to be the sprint revelation of the season. Just last weekend Guardini won the opening stage of the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey beating Tyler Farrar and Kenny Van Hummel in the sprint. A video of the finish can be found on the team website.

Brian Lopes had a great ride at the US Pro XCT #2 in Fontana California! In the Elite Men’s Super D the multi-world champion showed the rest of the field how it’s done by beating the next closest rider by nearly 5 seconds. The following month at the Sea Otter Classic Brian battled with Yeti rider Jared Graves in the Men’s Elite Dual Slalom. Lopes was also the only dual slalom racer who also competed in the Men’s Elite Short Track race the previous day. Check out this video of Brian Lopes riding the Sea Otter Dual Slalom event wearing his custom Lazer Excalibur DH helmet! Brian also wears the Lopes Signature Edition Oasiz helmet.
The LUNA Professional team has had a successful spring!
Shonny Vanlandingham started her season off with a win at XTERRA Philippines.
At the US PRO XCT #2 in Fontana California Catharine Pendrel, 2010 UCI World Cup Champion, stormed to victory with her team mate Georgia Gould finishing in second place.
At the Sea Otter Classic current USA Cross Country National Champion Georgia Gould took no prisoners. She attacked right from the gun and lead the race from start to finish. Finishing just behind Gould was her team mate Katerina Nash and Catharine Pendrel finished in fourth place. The following day Pendrel would finish second in the cross country race with Katerina Nash in third and, due to a flat tire, Gould in eighth place.
Pendrel would then go on to finish in fourth place at the UCI Cross Country World Cup in Petermaritzburg South Africa.

Help support Japan!
Japanese champion Takashi Miyazawa (Farnese Vini-Neri Sottoli) on the start line of Milan-San Remo.
Please consider a donation to the International Red Cross to support relief efforts helping those affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Since the earthquake, the Red Cross has provided medical treatment as Japan continues to grapple with a rapidly evolving humanitarian crisis following the massive earthquake and tsunami – as well as the developing nuclear situation – the Japanese Red Cross Society is offering medical and psychosocial care for increasing numbers of survivors and evacuees.
“ target=”blank”>I have never seen anything as bad as this before. It defies belief,” said Tadateru Konoé, President of the Japanese Red Cross Society and the IFRC, who has just returned from a visit to Iwate prefecture in north-eastern Japan, one of the worst-hit areas.
Lazer appreciates your help in assisting our friends in Japan!
