Lazer Sport May 2012 News

Hello Helmeteers! Summer approaches and it’s time for the Grand Tours! Here is what is new with Lazer Sport!

Lazer Magneto in the Press!

The word is getting out regarding the most innovative eyewear system in history, Lazer Magneto!

Road Bike Action Magazine says: “Easy, comfortable, and dare we say, secure? Wearing sunglasses that in no way put pressure on the side of your head, or compete with the helmet’s fit system for space, was a first for us. Out on the road there wasn’t really a whole lot to notice, and that’s a good thing”

Peloton Magazine says: “They were perfect. On the long, sweaty ride that followed, the glasses stayed put so well we quickly forgot there was anything novel about the concept. They just work, whether uphill/downhill, in the rain or in the sun.”

Steven Van Lancker says: “Nothing but benefits? Actually, I see no disadvantages. The combo is beautiful and fits together. They feel and are very light and you don’t feel the glasses when you are wearing them. The magnets are strong enough so you do not feel that you will lose the glasses, not even on our Belgian concrete (bike) lanes. The lenses are large so you have a big vision.”

Lazer Magneto is available now! Check our website for additional details regarding this revolutionary eye wear system!

Lazer FLASH YELLOW for 2012!

Fluorescent yellow is the hot color for 2012 and Lazer has you covered with helmet and eye wear options regardless of where you ride!

Lazer uses a special color treatment in the production of our Flash Yellow helmets to assure that the color stays bright and luminescent long after other helmets start to fade. We achieve this by using a yellow base material for the outer shell of the helmet and then apply the fluo yellow on top of this surface. The result is the beautiful Flash Yellow color only available from Lazer Sport.

The Flash Yellow treatment is available for 2012 in the Tardiz aero helmet, the Helium and O2 road helmets and the Oasiz and Nirvana MTB helmets.

And don’t forget the matching Magneto glasses!

Lazer Professional Team Update!

The 2012 racing season is in full swing and here is what is going on with our professional helmeteers!

Lotto-Belisol rider Lars Bak won stage 12 of the Giro d’Italia!

Bak left the fellow members of the break with one kilometer to go and finished solo for a commanding victory!

After the finish Bak said:

“Obviously this is my biggest win ever. My last victory was seven years ago, but this is something else. This is a big tour. It’s going great with Lotto Belisol. We were here to get away in the escapes and I think Lotto Belisol has been seen every day in the Giro. There will probably be two more chances to get away in the upcoming stages, before going into the mountains. We will try our luck, because we have nothing to lose.”

The Giro continues for another week and hopefully we will see another Lazer pro on the podium!

You can check out additional images of the Lotto-Belisol and Farnese Vini riders in their Lazer helmets on our Facebook page here. Best of luck to these two teams at the first Grand Tour of 2012!

The LUNA Pro Team had a great run at the UCI Cross Country MTB #3 in in Nove Mesto na Morave, Czech Republic with Katerina Nash taking third place in her signature Lazer Helium Checkers helmet! Current USA National Champion Georgia Gould finished in fourth place with current MTB World Champion Catharine Pendrel finishing in sixth place. The LUNA Pros are looking good as the London Olympics approach later this year!

And speaking of the Houffalize UCI World Cup, congratulations to Brian Lopes for his victory in the Men’s Eliminator Race! Brian takes the honor of winning the first ever UCI World Cup Eliminator Race in history!

Optum Pro Cycling presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies is currently participating in the Tour of California stage race in the USA. On stage 3 team member Sebastian Salas was the first rider over the Mt. Diablo climb and this earned him the Climber’s Jersey for stage 4. Alex Candelario battled with sprint greats Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Cannondale), sprint jersey holder Heinrich Haussler (Garmin-Barracuda), and Tom Boonen (QuickStep-Omega Pharma) in the final run to the finish line and finished in fourth place on the day.
