Belgium – Sean van Waes (division manager) and Peter Steenwegen (sales manager) have purchased by management buyout (MBO) the bicycle helmet division of Lazer SA, manufacturer of motorcycle, bicycle and paragliding helmets. The new company, Lazer Sport NV, will be based in Antwerp Belgium.
Thanks to the success in rapidly increasing their share of the bicycle helmet market, both parties have decided to separate the bicycle division from the rest of the company. Of course our well-recognized Lazer brand name will be fully retained for the marketing of our great products. while still marketing helmets under the well recognized brand name “Lazer”.
Lazer was founded in the year 1919 and is the most experienced helmet manufacturing company in the world still in operation. “Our objective has always been to find an excellent synergy between design, comfort and technology,” says Sean van Waes. “We will continue our focus on developing highly valued products.”
Lazer bicycle helmets represent the very passion of performance. Many great champions have teamed up with Lazer, amongst them Olympic, World and many other great Champions. Lazer is proud to support the successful UCI Protour team Katusha, including riders like Filippo Pozzato and Robbie McEwen.
“Distributed in more than 50 countries, developing helmets with unique customer features and a strong marketing focus, we are ready for the future,” elaborates Peter Steenwegen. “Lazer has always been a high end brand and has a fully developed range of road, MTB, BMX, downhill, kids, ladies, urban and commuter helmets.”
Since 2000 Sean van Waes has developed the bicycle division of the Lazer brand together with his right hand man Peter Steenwegen. They both remain focused on their target: stay “one step ahead” in the industry. “With our new top products, ongoing investments and the support of our distributors we are confident to reach our targets,” concludes Sean.
