The organization that’s helped get thousands of kids on bikes is looking for a little help this holiday season. The National Interscholastic Cycling Association (aka NICA) has launched its Share the Ride Campaign. Running through the end of the year, its goal is to raise $150,000 cumulatively across all NICA leagues and their national office to fuel continued growth.
Since NICA was formed in late 2009, it has had nearly 27,000 students and 10,000 coaches participate. They currently have just over 14,000 students and 6000 active coaches, and they are working with three new states to help them come online next year. No other nonprofit is getting #MoreKidsOnBikes and they need your help to continue the momentum.
Here’s where the Mtbr family comes in. NICA is asking that you spread the news and ask your friends and colleagues that care about youth and cycling to support NICA and/or any of their regional leagues during the Share the Ride Campaign.
And, for those that become NICA Sustainers (those who give on a monthly, bi-monthly, annual, semi annual etc. basis), they will be entered into weekly drawings for assorted swag and a grand prize will go to one lucky Sustainer who will win a free 2018 trip with Western Spirit Cycling Adventures.
You can also create a simple video explaining why you support NICA and why you think others should join the cause. Then post your video and tag with @nationalMTB and #MoreKidsOnBikes. NICA has also created a sample appeal letter to send out to friends and businesses. Feel free to adapt, change and adjust for your use if you care to write directly to folks.
