Pivot Shows the New Mach 6 Carbon and LES with 27.5 Wheels

Pivot Cycles recently announced two highlights from their 2014 bike line-up, both with 27.5″ wheels. Joining the fray of 27.5 all mountain bikes with 5.5-6″ of travel (the Mach 6 actually has 155mm of travel or 6.1″), the Mach 6 Carbon is a new from the ground up model, not a modified Mach 5.7 or Mach 429. The Mach 6 Carbon utilizes a slightly different iteration of the DW-link design used in other models. Also recently shown was the new 27.5 version of the LES hardtail formerly available as a 29er only. Along with the previously released Firebird 27.5, Pivot now has 3 models with the ‘tweener size wheels. Of the 13 models of mountain bikes they now make, Pivot Cycles still has 7 that come with the tried and true 26″ wheels, so 26″ wheels aren’t dead (yet).

Mtbr.com did not attend the Dealer Camp event so we didn’t get an early look at these models, but Pivot Cycles recently sent out their newsletter with the 2014 bike highlights. Stay tuned for more in-depth coverage on these bikes next month from Interbike. With Pivot’s reputation, we expect these new models to be very popular at the show. Mach 6

The Mach 6 has been in development for over two years and the excitement brewing behind this bike is nothing short of explosive. This has honestly been the hardest secret for us to keep quiet. However, knowing the level of bike we’ve developed makes the unveiling of this incredible machine that much sweeter.

The Mach 6 isn’t like anything else in our line-up. Hell, it’s not quite like anything we’ve built before! It’s an all new machine designed from the ground up to optimize the 27.5″ wheel platform and take the growing Enduro racing scene by storm. The Mach 6 is built with the singular purpose of going faster than anything else in the most aggressive terrain (both up and down).

The Mach 6 features the next generation of long travel dw-link design. With features like 6.1″ (155mm) of travel, a low BB height (13.6″), longer top tubes, lower stand-over, and a slack head angle (66 degrees), built around an ultra stiff and responsive carbon chassis, the Mach 6 is a bike designed to push your capabilities and reward those willing to push the limits. We optimized the design with internal top tube cable routing, internal dropper post routing, ISCG 05 tabs, and a look that screams of speed. The Mach 6 absolutely rips for the aggressive trail rider.

    From the wheels up more like…

    I don’t know what all the 26er folks are worried about. There is so little difference between 26 and 27.5 that you could buy a 27.5 frame and run 26 anyway. The difference in BB height is about 12mm…

    I like the bike, dw link, travel, wheel size, but come on Pivot, do you really need to plaster Pivot over and over again on your bikes to get the point across that it’s a Pivot? From one angle you can see Pivot 6 times. Did the founder/marketing people of Pivot study at the school of redundancy school?
