BERKELEY, Calif.–The National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) and Primal Wear, a Denver, CO based cycling apparel company established in 1992, have formed a partnership to equip high school mountain bikers with a range of cycling apparel. The contract includes NICA’s current League’s in NorCal, SoCal and Colorado.

Matt Fritzinger, head of NICA and founder of the NorCal League, said, “This deal with Primal Wear gives us access to affordable custom team apparel, which is critically important for the teams in the NorCal and other leagues. It allows each team to create an identity in their high school, which is really important. We are very pleased with the level of support they offer and we are excited to start working with Primal.”

Eric Truman, sales manager for Primal Wear, said: “We are proud to partner the National Interscholastic Cycling Association and the state High School Cycling Leagues. As a company with strong roots in mountain bike racing, our partnership with the Association is nothing short of a perfect fit. As a competitive cyclist and, most importantly, a parent of a young cyclist, I value the tremendous contributions the League has made to the sport of mountain bike racing.”

News of the deal was well received throughout the NICA network. Matt Gunnell, executive director of the SoCal League said, “We’re in style-conscious southern California, so we’re very excited to be working with Primal, who have a long-standing reputation for fantastic graphics and edgy style.”

Primal Wear staff members braved a snowy October fundraising ride that coincided with the launch of the Colorado High School Cycling League. Kate Rau, Founding Committee Chair of the Colorado League, stated, “We are impressed by Primal’s corporate culture that demonstrably engages with community both on and off the bike. I am thrilled that they actively sought a way to sponsor the newest League.” Prior experience with Primal’s exceptional customer service and quality made this important decision easy, said Rau.
