Rock Shox 2013 Sid, Reba, Revelation 27.5

27.5 Forks Interbike

One of the most discussed topics at Intebike this year was the 650b slash 27.5 debate. Originally dubbed 650b by Kirk Pacenti (champion of the modern era tweener tire movement) it seems a lot of companies (especially American companies) are resisting the 650b terminology in favor of the more “standard” 27.5 designation. Does it really matter? Probably not. But highlighted here are more 650b 27.5″ products.

Like the 29er movement before it, the key components to 650b/27.5 success are: tires and forks. True, 650b forks have been around for more than a couple of year. But it takes one of the “big” players to really move the market. That barrier has been broken this year, by both Fox and Rock Shox.

Rock Shox had their 27.5 Revelation and Reba on display and the 27.5 Sid is coming. In this video, Tyler Morland gives us an overview of Rock Shox’s 27.5 offerings for 2013.

isn’t 650b not exactly 27.5… why would you call it that then?

Rockshox… WTFU… for anything over 120mm in 29’er land 32mm stantions DO NOT CUT IT !!!

27.5″ is dead….long live 650B. I’ve been riding 650B since 2010 on a purpose built HT frame. The wheel size rocks. It carves better than a 29er and just as good as a 26er. Although, I do love my Pivot M4 and wish Pivot would jump into the wheel size full force. I see doing a SC TRc 650B conversion for 2013.

Please, PLEASE give us a 20mm axle option!!! I know, 15mm is stiff enough – NOT! Until then, I will continue using a Fox 36 (which, by the way, accepts 650B with no problems), or the Rockshox Lyric (same story as Fox 36).
