RockShox – Revelation and SID Forks, XLoc Full Sprint Remote, Monarch Shocks – Sea Otter 2013


XLoc Full Sprint
The XLoc Full Sprint is a single remote control that works hydraulically to simultaneously lock your front fork and rear shock with the push of a button. It’s now simple to push the remote to lock the system and another push to open them back up. This will allow great instant control of your suspension so you can lock it for quick bursts and long jaunts up climbs, and quickly snap everything back open for comfort. The completely sealed system will be compatible with only the Monarch XX rear shock and the SID XX or Revelation XX forks.

The XLoc has a floodgate attachment at the handlebar to the front fork, and then uses a quick connect for the rear, making for easier dealer and consumer setup. The quick connect is called the Connectamajig, and the hose-coupler does not require bleeding for initial setup.

SID and Revelation
The SID and Revelation will be in available in 26”, 27.5” and 29” sizes, and the x-country racing SID comes with 80, 100 and 120mm of travel, while the trail oriented Revelation comes with 130, 140 and 150mm (29er gets 120mm). The SID and Revelation feature the Motion Control DNA damper, which comes in four models, the efficient XX, the three position adjustable RCT3, the stable RLT and the simple RL. The SID uses the Solo Air spring, and the Revelation comes with the Solo Air and the travel adjustable Dual Position Air. The forks come with 32mm stanchions, and 9mm QR or 15mm Maxle Lite, and depending on the model, carbon fiber or aluminum steerer and crown.

Both models get the new Dig Valve added to the damping circuit, and they re-designed the rebound piston for the Dig (digressive tuning), which allowed the addition of Rapid Recovery and independent low-speed and high speed tuning. It uses a new aluminum rebound shaft instead of steel for weight savings. The Dig gives the rider more confidence and control in the rough terrain, while retaining composure, smoothness and comfort of a sx-country style fork. Black anodized legs are printed with easy to read sag gradients for a quick and precise setup.

The Monarch RT3 was the first of their rear shocks to get the Rapid Recovery rebound damping technology, with its all new damper design, and they now pushed it to all the Monarch brethren. The Monarch XX, RL, RT, and R have improved compression circuits that give better compression bump performance. The small bulge on the bottom of the shock is where they added larger volume to the negative air spring, to help reduce the amount of force it takes on initiate bump movement through the first third of travel. The top of the Monarch RT3, XX, RL, RT and R now feature a high-volume eyelet option called the HV-i, which allow for a higher volume and less progressive shock without the bulk or weight of the full High-Volume air can.

      Purely cosmetic, meaning black anodizing was more for aesthetics than a performance addition.

    I still don’t get why the change to 15mm axles. 20mm worked perfectly fine on Revelation and Pike for years. Did it really offer much weight loss to switch?

    160mm Pike with 35mm stanchions screams 20mm to me.

    P.S. Agreed about black stanchions. Looks pimp with white lowers. Kashima is as overrated in appearance as it is in performance.
