Sage’s new Powerline is rowdy and endurance ready

Today Sage Titanium launched a bike that will have flow riders and cross-country endurance lovers drooling –  the Powerline. This new titanium hardtail mountain bike model is positioned between the Sage Optimator cross-country and Flow Motion all-mountain bike.

Sage Powerline Highlights:

  • Trail geometry for racing or all-day adventures
  • Geometry spec based on 130mm fork
  • Clearance for 29 x 2.5-inch tires
  • Crafted from 3/2.5 titanium
  • Dropper Post Ready with internal routing
  • 1x Specific with clearance for 34-tooth chainring
  • Boost chainstay spacing for a strong, nimble ride
  • Made in the USA

The Powerline is aimed at riders who want a modern hardtail that can handle everything from endurance XC events to down-country shredding. The Powerline boasts versatility and a classic cool that sets it apart from the matte carbon box-shaped bikes of current popularity.

The Powerline was conceived to be at home on a variety of terrain and conditions. Whether it’s tearing up your local flow trails, or racing XC or endurance events, the Powerline is ready for the challenge. Designed with input from Sage’s own pro racers input and ridden to victory in some of the most grueling endurance races in Oregon such as the High Cascades 100 and the 6-Hours of Mt. Hood.

At the heart of the Powerline—like all Sage bicycles—is its Made in the USA titanium frame. Sage prides itself on crafting light and nimble frames that can carve through rock-strewn descents while being flat-out-fast when sprinting over the top of a climb. A 67.5° head tube angle gives the bicycle excellent stability, even at high speeds, without sacrificing pedaling efficiencies. The Powerline’s tire clearance for 29×2.5″ tires paired with fun-loving but not-too-slack modern geometry makes it the perfect candidate to be built with titanium as there’s no material better for an all-day ripper of a mountain bike.

The Powerline’s titanium tubing has been hand-selected by Sage’s founder and chief designer to best compliment the Powerline’s progressive geometry and deliver a ride, unlike any other hardtail. An internally routed dropper post combined with Sage’s patented “CCS” Cable Clip System keeps the aesthetics of the Powerline super clean and shows the level of detail put into every Sage bike.

Sage’s CCS also keeps the Powerline compatible across all drive train styles for the life of your frame. Sage designed the Powerline to be ahead of the curve while being practical in the present so that today and for years to come, it can deliver on a level of performance that’s unrivaled and will never bridle your adventure or performance.

The price is unrealistic. Ti frames are a dime dozen at this point in time, and a hard-tail Ti that is nothing special for over 3 grand is wishful thinking.

Made by Lynskey, who sells it’s own brand hardtail for 2k. Same design. So Sage is charging a grand just for it’s name? That’s some marketing!
