Following stops in Moab and Angle Fire, New Mexico, the Scott Enduro Cup race series is headed to Powderhorn Mountain Resort in Mesa, Colorado, July 28. One of Colorado’s newest bike parks, Powderhorn features lift-served trails with big jumps, technical rock gardens, and high speed singletrack through forests of Aspen.
“Our bike park is built to complement the natural terrain of the mountain and offers incredible views of Plateau Valley,” said Ken Gart, co-owner of Powderhorn Mountain Resort, which is about a 50-minute drive from Grand Junction.
Scott Enduro Cup registration is open to men and women offering professional, expert, vet expert (35+), amateur and junior (under 18 and under 15) categories. In addition to race entry, all registration fees include a T-shirt, post-race lunch, and a Sierra Nevada beer voucher. Registration fees will also include lift tickets for race day.
“We are really looking forward to making our inaugural stop at Powderhorn,” said Craig Alles, Scott Enduro Cup Race Director. “Powderhorn has done a great job on their bike park that should make for a fun and challenging one-day enduro for all of our riders.”
The Scott Enduro Cup presented by Vittoria will award $25,000 cash to the pro/open category throughout the 2018 series with an equal prize purse given to both men and women. Expert, amateur and junior categories will be awarded product provided by sponsors, Scott Sports, Vittoria and more. The male and female pro/open riders with the most points at the conclusion of the season will be titled the overall season champions and awarded $500 cash.
There’s still time to register to compete in the Scott Enduro Cup, and those not up for racing can head atop the Grand Mesa to enjoy exceptional views, cool summer weather, and mountain biking at their own pace. Powderhorn is also giving away a “36 Hours in Powderhorn” package to one lucky couple on the resort’s Instagram feed. The sweepstakes closes Tuesday, July 23 at 11:59 p.m. mountain time.
The Scott Enduro Cup series will wrap up with stops in Durango, Colorado, on August 11-12, and Park City, Utah, August 25-26.
