Video: EMBN ebike highlights of Sea Otter

Steve Jones explores the good, the weird and the undecided

News

Downhill Legend Steve Jones gives authenticity to the ebike category as he brings enthusiasm and descending insight in the formerly ‘elderly/injured only’ genre.

The Sea Otter Classic of 2019 was exploding at the seems with 650 booths compared to last year’s 500. No, it’s not that the industry is exploding and sales are booming, but rather it’s because of two recent phenomena.

Steve Jones interviews Cedric and the Forestal crew to gain insights on the bike.

First, Interbike and other dealer or industry tradeshows have declined and collapsed and the brands are looking for new ways to reach consumers. Second, ebikes sales are growing. All aspects of ebikes, including mountain bikes and even gravel bikes, are experiencing growth as enthusiasts as well as new cyclists purchase these products.

Part two of ebike tech

We have a few select highlights from the Sea Otter but we’ll also showcase EMBN’s video coverage. Based in the UK, they’ve produced hundreds of videos covering ebikes and are uniquely qualified to cover the subject.

The weird and the special

Steve Jones the host was a downhill specialist and the Editor of the iconic Dirt Magazine. He joined EMBN and brought in an enthusiast-oriented view of ebikes, a novel concept at the time.

The summary and the state of the state

Where do you stand? Hate ebikes, undecided or ready to buy? What has changed your mind if any and what are looking for in the category in the future.
